A 41-year-old traveler from West Godavari and a 33-year-old man from Visakhapatnam have been tested positive for Omicron.

Visakhapatnam: A 41-year-old traveler from West Godavari and a 33-year-old man from Visakhapatnam have been tested positive for Omicron.

With this, the total Omicron cases in AP have reached four.

According to the Director of Public Health Dr.Hymavathi, the 41-year-old Gannavaram resident returned from Kuwait on December 19. He was tested positive for Covid on December 20. Her samples were sent to the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad for genome sequencing. She was tested Omicron positive on December 23.

Another 33-year-old Visakhapatnam resident returned from UAE on December 15. Admitted with mild fever in a private hospital, he was tested Covid positive on December 16. His samples were sent to CCMB. On December 23, he was tested positive for Omicron.

Both positive patients are stable and have been kept in quarantine. They are under close observation of the Health Department.

According to the health officials, so far 53 foreign travelers and 9 contacts have been tested positive for Covid-19. Their samples have been sent to CCMB for Genome sequencing.

The public has been advised not to believe any rumors and take precautions. People have been advised to follow social distancing, wear a mask, and wash their hands regularly.
