Guntur: Police have rescued a two-year-old boy who was abducted and sold to a childless couple for Rs two lakh at Nambur of Pedakakani Mandal in Guntur.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the kidnappers had brokered a deal for Rs two lakh with a childless couple, who wanted to adopt the boy.

Based on the complaint from the boy's parents, police formed seven teams and carried out search operations. Cops identified the kidnappers with the help of CCTV footage and other technical evidence.

On a tip-off, police rescued the boy from Sankhavaram Nandal area of East Godavari district. Police had taken the parents along for the identification.

Police have arrested four persons so far. Police also recovered a car, cash, and other items from the kidnappers.

People have praised the police team led by DSP Durga Prasad for bringing the boy back safely.
