Under Modi, Centre sanctioned 10 ESI hospitals to AP
MP Narasimha Rao thanked the PM for sanctioning and allocating funds for 10 ESI hospitals in Andhra Pradesh
By Newsmeter Network Published on 21 March 2022 3:04 PM GMTAmaravati: The Prime Minister sanctioned 10 ESI hospitals, including seven new and three reconstructed, to Andhra Pradesh, the ministry of labour said while replying to a question by MP G.V.L Narasimha Rao in the Rajya Sabha.
The construction of the new Visakhapatnam ESI hospital has been entrusted to the Central public works department (CPWD) at a sanctioned cost of Rs. 384.26 crore. Renovation work of the existing ESI hospital at Visakhapatnam (Malkapuram) has been assigned to CPWD at an approved cost of Rs. 21.79 crore and was sanctioned on 13 November 2019. An amount of Rs. 19.16 crore has been released.
A new ESI hospital at Vizianagaram has been entrusted to MECON at an approved cost of Rs. 73.68 crore. A new ESI Hospital at Kakinada has been entrusted to CPWD at a cost of Rs. 102.77 crore and Rs. 17.23 crore has been released. The other four newly-approved hospital projects at Guntur, Penukonda, and Sri City Nellore are at the land allotment stage. The project at Atchutapuram is at the land possession stage.
Reconstruction of ESI hospital at Rajahmundry has been entrusted to CPWD at a cost of Rs. 97.97 crore. It was sanctioned on 19 August 2020. An amount of Rs. 10.90 crore has been released. MP Narasimha Rao thanked the PM for sanctioning and allocating funds for 10 ESI hospitals in Andhra Pradesh and said, "As Andhra Pradesh lacks adequate health infrastructure, these 10 ESI hospitals will greatly help the people of the state."
