Srikakulam: Going beyond the call of duty, a sub-inspector of police at the Kasibugga Police Station in Srikakulam district, K. Sirisha, along with two others carried the body of an unidentified person for over 2 km from Adavi Kothur to perform the last rites, on Monday. The police official won the hearts of thousands of people after the video of her carrying the body went viral on social media.

Sirisha had come to know that a dead body was found near Adavi Kothur. She visited the spot and noticed that a beggar had died on the road due to ill health.

Despite being spotted a couple of hours back, no one had moved the body yet. The locals refused to move the body so Sirisha, along with some locals, carried the body.

Later, Sirisha with the support of Lalitha Charitable Trust, performed the last rites to the dead body.

Several police officers, including DGP Gautam Sawang lauded the humanitarian gesture by Sirisha.
