Visakhapatnam: A Class VII student was killed after a school mate rained blows on his chest during a scuffle in Visakhapatnam on Thursday evening.
A senior police officer said Jaswanth, 13, was challenged by a student and his friends for a fight. He accepted the challenge and decided to take him on after school. They left the school at about 4.30 and selected a spot about 200 meters away.
The fight started with two other boys standing as witness. Jaswant faced a volley of blows and one of them landed on his chest which proved to be fatal. He collapsed and fell unconscious. The boys rushed back to the school and informed the teachers who took Jaswant to King George Hospital. Doctors, however, declared him dead on arrival.
The school management declared a holiday for the students on Thursday. Fourth Town police have registered a case.
"The minor would be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to Correction Home," said a senior police officer.
