Vizag, Chittoor continue to report highest COVID-19 cases in AP

Hyderabad: Visakhapatnam and Chittoor districts continue to report the highest COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh. On 8 January, the state reported 839 new cases.

A release issued by the state command control room said the highest number of cases was reported in Chittoor (175) followed by 174 in Visakhapatnam.

District officials are on the alert after Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner G. Lakshmisha and district medical and health officer (DMHO) S. Tirupathi Rao tested positive for COVID-19. This is the second time the DMHO has tested positive.

Andhra Pradesh is seeing a rise in daily COVID-19 cases. On 7 January, a total of 840 cases were reported in the state with the highest seen in Chittoor and Visakhapatnam. In the last 24 hours, a total of 150 patients have in the state.

So far, AP has reported a total of 20,80,602 COVID-19 cases. The state has 3,659 active cases as of now.
