Vizag shocker: Navy technician kills woman, chops her body, stores parts in fridge; surrenders

Visakhapatnam: A 35-year-old Navy technician allegedly murdered a 29-year-old woman, dismembered her body, and stored some of her body parts in a refrigerator before surrendering to the police at Gajuwaka.

Accused and victim identified

The accused has been identified as Ch Ravindra, a Navy technician and a native of Rajam in Vizianagaram district. The victim, Mounika (29), was a resident of Visakhapatnam.

Police said Ravindra was married, and his wife had reportedly left for her parental home in Vizianagaram a few weeks ago, leaving him alone at his residence in LV Nagar under Gajuwaka police station limits.

Woman invited to house

According to police, Ravindra had developed a relationship with Mounika. On Sunday, he allegedly called her and invited her to his house.

The two reportedly spent several hours together at the residence before an argument broke out between them later in the evening.

Brutal murder and dismemberment

Police said that in a fit of rage, Ravindra stabbed Mounika to death inside the house. He then dismembered her body and packed the parts into bundles.

Some of the body parts were allegedly disposed of at an isolated location, while others were kept in a refrigerator at his residence. The victim’s head is still missing.

Accused surrenders

In a significant development, Ravindra later walked into a police station and confessed to the crime. Acting on his statement, police teams visited the house and recovered several body parts from the refrigerator.

Motive under probe

During preliminary questioning, the accused reportedly claimed that the victim had been pressuring him for money and that he committed the crime as he could no longer bear the alleged harassment.

However, police said they are verifying his claims and probing all possible angles, including the nature of their relationship and circumstances leading to the murder.

Search for missing body parts

Police have formed special teams to trace the missing body parts, particularly the head, which is suspected to have been disposed of elsewhere. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, the police said.
