Vizianagaram: In a heart-wrenching incident, a man from Koraput district in Odisha carried his wife's body on his shoulder after the auto driver deboarded them in the middle of the road. Vizianagaram police immediately rushed to the spot and arranged a vehicle to ferry the body to the village for last rites. Humanitarian gesture by the Vizianagaram police is being appreciated by many.

According to the Vizianagaram police, 30-year-old Eede Guru, of Sorada village was admitted to Anil Neerukona Medical Hospital. The hospital authorities asked her husband Saamulu to take her home as she is not responding to any medication. She died while traveling in an auto-rickshaw. Instead of helping, the driver dropped them at Chelluru ring road near Vizianagaram and left.

In a helpless situation, he carried her on his shoulders. He was unable to communicate in the local language. Locals who witnessed the incident immediately informed the police. Vizianagaram Rural CI TV Tirupati Rao along with Gantyada SI Kiran Kumar visited the spot. After speaking to their relatives in Odisha, police arranged for a vehicle to shift his wife's body to the village.
