Vizianagaram: The city police cracked the murder case of a 24-year-old youth and arrested five persons including his foster parents and a juvenile on Friday.

Superintendent of the police B Raja Kumari said the 24-year-old unidentified youth's body was found in a pond in Madhuravenkannapalem village of Vizianagaram district on March 18. His hands and legs were tied and his mouth gagged.

Basing on a complaint, Nellimerla police registered a case and launched the investigation.

Police identified the body as that of Punnapureddy Prasad, 24, of Punnapureddy village of Gurla Mandal.

Punnapureddy Sitamma and Punnapureddy Satyam had no children and adopted his younger brother's son Prasad. Later the couple had a son. After the birth of their son, the couple neglected Prasad and made him work in the fields while sending their own son to college.

Meanwhile, Sitamma developed an illicit relationship with one Rama Rao. Prasad often questioned her about the affair. As she felt Prasad was a threat to her affair, Sitamma decided to eliminate him. She convinced her husband to kill Prasad as he will claim a share in their property.

He agreed to the plan and all four including the juvenile son along with Sitamme's nephew killed Prasad while he was returning from a village festival at Cheepurupalle on March 16. They tied his hands and legs and gagged his mouth with plaster. Later they dumped the body in the pond.

Police solved the case and arrested Sitamma, her husband Satyam, her paramour Rama Rao, her nephew Yadla Rambabu and the juvenile.
