Vizianagaram: Identified as P.Eswara Rao, he was hailing from Vedurupaka Savaram village of East Godavari district. The 34-year-old was posted in the home guards at Vizianagaram.

According to the source, P.Eswararao of Vedurupaka Savaram village in Rayavaram Mandal of East Godavari district had joined the police department as sub-inspector in 2011. He was promoted to inspector rank in 2018.

He had worked with the Octopus wing at Kakinada and Rajahmundry. Later, he was transferred to Vizianagaram. He was putting up with his wife Haripriya and daughter Lakshmi Harshini at police quarters. All of sudden, he shot himself at his residence on Sunday morning.

Based on the local's information, Vizianagaram one town police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. They have shifted the body to Maharaja Hospital for postmortem.

"Reserve Inspector Eswararao shot himself with service revolver near chest area and found spot dead. Rao's wife was in shock with his heart-wrenching incident. We have registered a case and the investigation is on. However, our primary investigation reveals that he reportedly has some personal problems and those might be reasons for his shocking decision. I hope we will get concrete information after his relatives arrive at the station and lodge complaint," said J.Murali, inspector of One-Town police station
