Visakhapatnam: Two weeks after he submitted his resignation to Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker, former Minister and Visakhapatnam North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday asked all the elected representatives to put in papers and intensify agitation against privatization of the steel plant.

The move is set to draw the attention of the entire nation and put pressure on the Central Government. Ganta sent his resignation letter to the speaker, the day the Steel Minister announced MoU between RINL and POSCO.

Addressing media persons in Visakhapatnam, Ganta Srinivasa Rao assured that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will not field candidates in the constituencies where the YSRC leaders resign.

The MLA further said the ruling party should chalk out a constructive strategy to intensify the agitation to which TDP and other political parties would support.

"If we cannot protect the steel plant, history will not excuse us. It is the responsibility of all of us to save the plant from privatization," Ganta said.

He said it was unfortunate that chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not raise the steel plant issue when he got an opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ganta suggested that Rajya Sabha member and top leader of YSRC V Vijaysai Reddy to organize a padayatra in New Delhi and rope in other leaders to stop the privatization of the steel plant.

He said Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan met the top BJP leaders in New Delhi. "But if he participates in JAC agitation at the Steel Plant main gate, it would make difference and send a signal to the NDA government at Delhi," he said.
