West Godavari: A 50-year-old-pastor allegedly raped and impregnated a 14-year-old- girl in West Godavari district.
Kovvuru DSP Srinath said that the victim girl was studying in a Residential School in Eluru Town. Last year, when she came to her village for the Christmas holidays, she visited the church for prayers.
However, the pastor took the girl to Dubacherla on the pretext of buying a cake. Instead, he took her to his friend's house and tried to rape her. She raised an alarm and escaped from the spot.
On April 23 this year, the pastor called the minor girl to the church for cleaning the premises. However, this time he raped the girl in a room which is part of the church.
Some days ago, the girl complained of stomachache and was taken to the local hospital. Doctors after examining her said that she is three-month pregnant.
Later, the girl narrated the entire episode to her parents and relatives. Based on her complaint, police registered a case against the pastor under section 376, 354 (c), and section 6 of the POCSO Act.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. The girl has been was sent for medical examination.
Women's organizations have demanded stringent action against the pastor.
