Woman, 5YO grandson dead after rain-soaked wall collapses in Vizianagaram
The victims have been identified as Addala Laksmi (49) and her grandson Addala Harshit Varma (5). The incident took place when five members of a family were asleep. The injured persons were shifted to the government hospital at Vizianagaram for better medical care.

Vizianagaram: In a tragic incident, two persons of the same family were killed and three others suffered injuries after a rain-soaked wall collapsed on them at Kumaram village under Garividi mandal in Vizianagaram district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The victims have been identified as Addala Laksmi (49) and her grandson Addala Harshit Varma (5). The incident took place when five members of a family were asleep. The injured persons were shifted to the government hospital at Vizianagaram for better medical care.
The police said parts of the Vizianagaram district experienced heavy rains since Friday morning. When the wall of the old house caved in, it collapsed on Lakshmi and Harshit who were sleeping in the house. Three others of the same family were injured in the incident.
Upon hearing a loud noise, the locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police. The police with the support of locals recovered the bodies from the debris. The police said the condition of the three injured persons is stable. A case has been registered and the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
The police and revenue officials have swung into action to identify old houses in the mandal and evacuate people from the structures.
