Vizianagaram: A clash erupted over the recent suicide of a married woman claiming the life of a 35-year-old-man and causing injuries to five women at Aguru village in Mentada mandal in Vizianagaram district.
The Mentada police said that K Jyothi (28) from Pittada village married K Mahesh, a native of Aguru village. Jyothi died by suicide by consuming poison a few days ago.
Jyothi's death led to disputes between the two families. Jyothi's parents and relatives strongly believed that Mahesh's family was responsible for the extreme step of the woman.
On Saturday, Jyothi's relatives and family members came to the Aguru village and attacked the family members of Mahesh with chilli powder and knives. Mahesh's family members also attacked them in response.
During the clash, Mahesh's brother K Ganesh suffered severe injuries and breathed his last on the way to the hospital at Gajapathinagaram. Five women also suffered injuries in the clash and two of them were severely injured.
The injured persons were shifted to the government hospital for treatment. A senior police officer at the Mentada police station said that they have registered cases against both the groups and that the investigation is on. He added that they have deployed police personnel at the village to prevent the possible clash.
