YS Abhishek Reddy, cousin of former AP CM Jagan, passes away at 36

Hyderabad: YS Abhishek Reddy, the cousin of former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, passed away while being treated at AIG Hospital here on Friday.

The 36-year-old doctor by profession, Abhishek Reddy was among the ones closest to Jagan and was a part of his political campaigns. He was the state secretary of the YSRCP medical wing and worked as the Lingala Mandal in charge of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Abhishek Reddy was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli on December 13, 2024, after he was referred from another hospital. He had been undergoing treatment for three months at the time.

He was diagnosed with Infective Endocarditis, Acute Pancreatitis with Peripancreatic Collections, Disseminated Fungal Infection, Septic Shock with Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (Anuric Renal Failure, Multifactorial Encephalopathy, Hepatic Dysfunction with Coagulopathy).

Being critically ill on multiple life support therapies such as mechanical ventilation, CRRT and high-dose vasopressor support, Abhishek Reddy passed away on Friday. His mortal remains will be taken to his native Pulivendula.

The YS family is saddened by the demise of Abhishek, who was regarded as a rising star in their political and social circles.
