YSR Anniversary: Jagan releases Rs 1,117 crore compensation to 10.2 lakh farmers.

Anantapur: Marking the birth anniversary of his father and former chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh YS Rajashekar Reddy, chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid a special tribute by disbursing Rs 1,117 crore insurance compensation to 10.2 lakh farmers whose crops were damaged during the Kharif season in 2022.

He later inaugurated the MPFC godowns and 52 Dr YSR Agri Testing Labs, developed at an expenditure of Rs 63.93 crore. This brings the total number across the state to 127. The tribute was held as part of Rythu Dinotsavam in Kalyandurgam in Anantapur district.

Addressing the gathering, Jagan reminded people of how his father Rajashekar Reddy had revolutionised the agriculture sector and reiterated his own commitment to the farmer community. The chief minister outlined the numerous welfare schemes implemented for farmers and the visible transformations occurring in the state.

ā€œWith 10,778 Rythu Bharosa Kendras supporting farmers from the seeding to marketing their products, the e-crop system has enabled officials to maintain accurate data on crops and farmers. Other measures such as crop loss payment before the end of the season, a zero-interest scheme, and a price stabilisation fund of Rs 3,000 crore have significantly assisted farmers,ā€ the chief minister said.

Furthermore, the government has allocated Rs 40,000 crore, Rs 1,965 crore, Rs 1,835 crore, and Rs 1,100 crore for free power supply, crop loss, zero-interest, and the YSR Yantra Seva Scheme, respectively.

In response to the appeals made by minister Ushashri Charan, the chief minister announced the release of Rs 208 crore for land acquisition as part of the Rs 542 crore Bhairava Thippa project, aimed at irrigating uncultivated lands in Kalyandurgam, Rayadurgam, and Uravakonda mandals. He also agreed to construct community halls for various social groups.
