Vijayawada: The YSRCP announced its candidates for the MLC elections to be held for the six seats in the MLA quota in Andhra Pradesh. The polls are scheduled for March 15. The names were announced by government advisor, public affairs, Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy at a press conference here on Thursday.

Balli Kalyan Chakravarthy (Tirupathi), Mohammed Iqbal (Hindupur), Challa Bhageerath Reddy (Kurnool), C Ramachandraiah (Kadapa), Mohammed Karimunneesa (Vijayawada), and Duvvada Srinivas (Srikakulam) will be contesting in the MLC elections from YSRCP, Rama Krishna Reddy said, adding that the YSRCP would not be involved in teachers' quota elections. The decision has been left to the teachers' unions, he said, as their representation would be the best version at the House.

Sajjala condemned the remarks made by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on Swamy Swarupanandendra and recalled that some TDP leaders had met the swamiji along with Naidu during the TDP regime. He was holy to them then and now has become a tantric, he said. He said that Naidu is showing his true colours after the Kuppam defeat and warned him to watch what he says. He further slammed Nara Lokesh over his abusive langue in public meetings.

He said that the public had rejected Naidu in 2019 and in the recent panchayat polls. He said that there is no shortcut for success, and only the candidates elected by the people can be considered leaders. "Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has taken public welfare to the village level benefiting every eligible person in the state without creating hassles and leaving scope for no corruption," he said. The governance provided by the YSRCP had paved the way for the party's victory in the panchayat polls and the same will continue in the coming municipal, MPTC, and ZPTC elections, he said.
