East Godavari: A 47-year-old YSRCP corporator, Kampara Ramesh, was killed allegedly by his rival who ran a car over him in the early hours of Friday on the outskirts of Kakinada city in East Godavari district. The deceased was the 9th ward corporator of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation and a real estate agent. A video clipping of the incident has gone viral on social media.

The police said that Ramesh and his rival Gurajana Chinna had an argument over a financial matter during a party thrown by Ramesh for his friends on Thursday night and was attended by Chinna.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Ramesh did not allow Chinna to leave the party which might have caused Chinna to kill him. Ramesh was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

The police have registered a case against Chinna who is said to have absconded with his family. The police have shifted the dead body from the private hospital to the government general hospital for postmortem. The deceased had recently joined the YSRCP.
