YSRCP MLA Talari Venkat Rao attacked by party members in Eluru over leader's murder

YSRCP MLA Talari Venkat Rao attacked by party members in Eluru over leaders murder

Eluru: Gopalapuram YSRCP MLA Talari Venkat Rao was attacked by his party members here on Saturday. They claimed he was involved in the murder of YSRCP leader Ganji Prasad.

The incident happened on Saturday morning at G Kothapalli village under Dwaraka Tirumala mandal in Eluru district. A group of YSRCP members blocked the MLA's way while he was on his way to meet the slain leaders' family. The villagers and party members accused him of involvement in the leader's murder.

According to sources, there has been a rivalry between groups of the ruling party, and it was alleged that the MLA's group had murdered Ganji Prasad. When Mr. Rao went to the village to inquire about the death, he was attacked with stones. The police who tried to rescue the MLA were also injured.

Mr. Rao sustained injuries and was immediately shifted from the area to a school for shelter. As the situation turned worse, the superintendent of police, Rahul Dev Sharma, and deputy inspector general Palaraju rushed to the location.

A case has been registered by the police.

Ganji Prasad's wife blames MLA

Meanwhile, Satyavathi, wife of Ganji Prasad, blamed MLA Talari Venkata Rao for her husband's death. She alleged that his activists murdered her husband. She said the family will not cremate the body until they got justice.

Three suspects arrested

The Eluru district police have identified three people – Suresh, Mohan, and Hemanth – who were allegedly involved in the murder of Ganji Prasad. They surrendered in front of the police. There were allegations that G Kothapalli YSRCP MPTC Banjarayya had planned the murder. Surprisingly, Banjarayya has absconded, and the police are searching for him. Villagers said there has been a political rivalry between Ganji Prasad and Banjarayya.
