YSRCP worker shoots relative in Kadapa over family dispute, later ends his life

Kadapa: A YSRCP worker shot dead his relative before turning the gun on himself at Nallapureddypalli in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Parthasaradhi Reddy (48) and Prasad Reddy (62), both relatives. Police said that old rivalry and property disputes between the families of Parthasaradhi Reddy and Prasad Reddy was the result of the gunfire.

Parthasaradhi Reddy on Tuesday morning tried to attack Prasad Reddy with a knife. Angered by the incident, Prasad Reddy opened fire on Parthasaradhi Reddy with his licensed gun. Parthasaradhi collapsed and he died on the spot. Minutes after Prasad Reddy shot himself dead.

Locals said that both Parthasaradhi Reddy and Prasad Reddy belonged to the YSR Congress Party. The property disputes between the two families have led to the murders in the village.

Suspecting possible violence in the village, the officials have deployed the police personnel in the village to prevent any untoward incident. Police said the deployment will continue in the village for some days to maintain law and order.

YSRC leaders visited the village to console the family members of the deceased. Police have shifted the bodies to the local hospital for the post mortem.
