This is the fifth held desk set up Helping Hand Foundation. HHF has set up help desks at Gandhi Hospital, Osmania General Hospital, District Hospital in King Koti, and Government General and Chest Hospital. These desks are supported by the Azim Premji Foundation.
"A total of 25 volunteers are now providing patient care and counseling services to patients in government hospitals. Hundreds of patients are being assisted in the admissions. Personal needs and comfort are also being taken care of by these help desks. All family members are being counseled and updated on the health of their dear ones on a daily basis. All this is free," said Mujtaba Hasan Askari from Helping Hand Foundation (HHF)
A team of five counselors will remain present at the TIMS. Plus two volunteers will be posted at the entry triage to check for reports of patients and facilitate admissions. Two more counselors will be at triage for inpatient assistance. The counselors will inform family members or attendants about the health status of the patients. They will also facilitate the movement of essential items to patients.
"A counselor will offer services to attendants who have lost kin to COVID. It is a sensitive issue and important from the family perspective," said Mujtaba Hasan Askari from Helping Hand Foundation (HHF).
He added that with help desks across COVID centers and intrahospital availability of beds besides the movement of patients are being streamlined. The help desk works from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
