By Newsmeter Network Published on 14 Nov 2021 12:06 PM GMTHyderabad: The International Space Station (ISS) will be spotted from Hyderabad on Sunday and experts say it's the best opportunity to see it.
The space station will be visible in the southwest direction at 6:55 p.m and will move towards the northeast. It is expected to be visible for four minutes.
"As seen from Hyderabad at 6:55 p.m, the ISS will start low in the southwest sky. By 6:59, it reaches the highest point and then further continues its journey by 6:59:51 and it will disappear in the northeast direction. The space station would be visible as a dot moving in the sky. This time, it is going to be visible at a brightness of -3.7 magnitude," said N. Raghunandan of Planetary Society.
According to experts, another highlight is that on 14th November, ISS will be brighter than the brightest star visible from Earth, Sirius with a brightness of magnitude -1.46. And it is just a little less brighter than the planet Venus which is visible in evening skies at west direction shining at -4.4 magnitude.
However, due to the rain predictions in the city, experts doubt a clear view of the space station. "It is generally hard to spot the ISS in the city because of pollution, light pollution. In Hyderabad, it is a clear sky now. If it remains so, it is the best opportunity to see the space station," added Raghunanadan.
