The term of six MLCs in Telangana expired on June 3. The term of three Upper House members in Andhra Pradesh expired on May 31.

Election to 9 MLC seats in Telangana, Andhra to be held on Nov 29

Hyderabad: Election to fill nine Upper House seats in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be held on November 29.

Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday announced the dates for election to six vacant seats in the Telangana Legislative Council and three in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative council under the MLAs' quota.

The term of six MLCs in Telangana expired on June 3. The term of three Upper House members in Andhra Pradesh expired on May 31.

According to the schedule released by the ECI, the notification for the election would be issued on November 9, and the polling would be held on November 29. The last date of filing nominations is November 16. Candidates can withdraw their nomination till November 22. Counting will be held soon after the polling and the election process will be completed before December 1.

In Telangana, the MLCs whose term ended include Akula Lalitha, Mohammad Fareeduddin, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Nethi Vidyasagar, Bodakunti Venkateshwarlu, and Kadiyam Srihari. In AP, the MLCs whose term ended include Chinna Govinda Reddy Devasani, Mohammed Ahmed Shariff, and Somu Veerraju.

Earlier, ECI had deferred the poll due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

TRS has 102 seats in the Legislative Assembly and its ally AIMIM has seven seats, which makes it easy for the ruling party to sweep the election. Similarly, YSRCP has 150 seats in AP Legislative Assembly and the party is set to win the election with ease.
