Magnitude 5.1 earthquake hits Bay of Bengal, tremors felt in Andhra Pradesh

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was 296 kilometers south-southeast of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km from the surface.

Magnitude 5.1 earthquake hits Bay of Bengal, tremors felt in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale was recorded at 12:35 in Bay of Bengal. The tremors were felt in the Nellore, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Prakasam districts of Andhra Pradesh, and Chennai in Tamilnadu.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of the earthquake was 296 kilometers south-southeast of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. The earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km from the surface.


According to Andhra Pradesh Weatherman, there is no chance for a Tsunami since it did not cause any ripple with vertical displacement.
