Hyderabad: Rain might play spoilsport for people who are celebrating Sankranthi and those who want to fly kites. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in a few districts of Telangana during the next 24 hours.

IMD said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at isolated places in the state during the next 48 hours. Dry weather is likely to prevail in Telangana from Saturday to Monday.

A few places in the state witnessed rainfall in the last 24 hours. The lowest minimum temperature of 17.4°Celsius and 19.9°Celsius was recorded at Nizamabad and Hyderabad of Telangana on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, the IMD said.

Rain in Andhra Pradesh

Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in the next 24 hours, the IMD said on Friday. It added that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next three days.

The same situation is likely to prevail in Rayalaseema during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at many places or at a few places or at one or two places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next five days, the IMD said.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places in Vizianagaram district in north coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours. It rained in most places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam (Puducherry) and at one or two places in Rayalaseema during the same period. The lowest minimum temperature of 16.6°Celsius was recorded at Anantapur on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, the IMD added.
