Hyderabad: Revenue Department continues to top the list in corruption followed by Police Department in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In its survey on government employees' work performance and corruption', Hyderabad-based Youth for Anti-Corruption (YAC) has revealed some startling facts.
The survey report was released by former CBI Joint Director VV Lakshmi Narayana.
Nearly 92 percent of respondents said the 'broker system' was the main reason for the corruption to flourish. As many as 21,523 people participated in the survey carried out in rural areas, towns, and metro cities across 37 districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The survey was conducted in both offline and online modes.
Among the respondents, 91 percent are men and 9 percent are women. The report revealed that most of the respondents were of the view that they had 'no confidence' in the anticorruption agencies and vigilance authorities.
Only 20 percent of employees were honest. The employees had very poor performance in the government departments,
YAC, which has been spearheading the cause for a corruption-free society, said 89 percent of respondents felt that unless people grease palms, the problem will not be redressed.
According to the report, there is 85 percent corruption in revenue department followed by Police ( 79%), Registration (76%), Municipal (75%), Irrigation (70%), Pollution Board (65%)Electricity (60%), and Gram Panchayat (60%). There is 55 percent corruption in Banks, Excise, Hospitals, and NGOs. There is 40 percent corruption each in Education and Jail departments.
