Top Maoist commander involved in killing of 25 SF men arrested in Koraput
Odisha police have arrested senior Maoist leader and member of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) Dubashi Shankar alias Mahender alias Arun in Koraput district.

Police said that based on credible intelligence reports that a group of Maoists was moving in the forest area of Petaguda in Koraput district, a joint operation was launched by security forces on Sunday night. Shankar was apprehended in the early hours of Monday.
Police recovered one Insas Rifle, 10 rounds of ammunition, one mobile phone, one radio, earphone, Amazon kindle, Rs 35,500 cash, and other articles. Sources said Shanker has not been keeping well and had ventured out for treatment when he was apprehended.
A resident of Medak district, Telangana, Shankar, had joined the movement in 1987 under the Indrapuriyal area committee. He worked in Medak till 2004 and was promoted to the rank of SZCM. He later moved to AOBSZC and in 2010 he was inducted into the State Military Commission.
He was involved in as many as two cases of Koraput district, 18 cases in Malkangiri district, 32 cases in Visakhapatnam district and 24 cases in Telangana state. His major action includes the Damajodi EoF in 2009 in which 10 CISF personnel were killed, Govindpalli landmine blast in 2010 in which 11 police personnel were killed and the Janiguda ambush in 2012 that left four BSF personnel, including a Commandant dead.
Shankar was also involved in the recent EoF at Teegalametta in Koyyuru in Visakhapatnam district in which six Maoists were killed by the AP Greyhounds.
