Hyderabad: Telangana High Court expressed displeasure with the state government over the delay in appointing Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and the Information Commissioners (ICs) in State Information Commission.
A division bench of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji asked Advocate General Banda Shivananda Prasad Prasad: āSuppose if a person approaches the Information Commission and seeks specific information and if nobody is in the Commission, what will happenā¦ This situation should not have been allowed to happen. It is not a very happy situationā¦ it is a very sad State of affairsā¦ā.
Chief Information Commissioner retired in August 2020 and the last Information Commissioner retired on February 2023.
Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan asked Prasad as to what is the present position on the appointment of CIC and ICs to the TS Information Commission.
Advocate General said a notification has been issued inviting applications from eligible candidates for the post of Chief Information Commission and Information Commission. He said the entire process of selection will be completed by August 4, 2023.
The court adjourned the matter to August 23.
