Visakhapatnam: TS Police open fire to disperse stone-pelting mob, two smugglers injured
Two ganja smugglers received gunshot wounds when Nalgonda police opened fire to disperse a stone pelting mob at Ghat road in Lambasinghi of Visakhapatnam agency on Sunday.

Some cops were also injured in the stone pelting. Mobsters also damaged some police vehicles.
The incident occurred when cops were on a decoy mission to nab a top gang leader
According to information, the Nalgonda Task Force recently seized over 300 kgs of dry ganja. Investigation revealed that some people from the Lammasingi area in Vizag Agency supplied ganja to traders in Nalgonda. Nalgonda police came to Lammasingi to arrest them.
On Friday, cops nabbed small-time smuggler K Bhima Raju of Annavaram. Cops later decided to launch a decoy operation to nab top smuggler Balakrishna. However, Balakrishna gave them a slip.
On Sunday, Nalgonda police decided to hand over Bhima Raju to his family members. However, a large number of villagers including some ganja smugglers however assembled on the road when cops were heading towards Annavaram.
Suspecting that the locals might attack them, police turned around but their vehicles got stuck in a traffic jam on Ghat Road near Lambasingi.
Angry villagers and ganja smugglers hurled stones causing injuries to some police personnel. Some vehicles were also damaged.
Nalgonda police fired few rounds in the air to disperse the mob. When the situation turned volatile, they opened fire at the mob. Two people received gunshot wounds. They have been identified as Kamaraju and Rambabu.
DIG of Visakha Range LKV Ranga Rao and Vizag Rural police chief B Krishna Rao have confirmed the firing. The injured persons were shifted to the hospital, where their condition is said to stable.
