12 more Omicron cases in TS; total tally rises to 79

12 more Omicron cases in TS; total tally rises to 79

Hyderabad: On 1 January 2022, 12 more Omicron cases were reported in Telangana taking the total tally to 79.

Out of the 12 cases, 3 are from 'at-risk' countries and 9 are from non-risk countries.


On Saturday, 123 passengers from 'at-risk' countries were tested at RGIA for Omicron variant out of which 10 turned Covid-19 positive. These 10 samples have been sent for genome sequencing. With this, results of a total of 21 samples are awaited.

On Friday, five Omicron cases were reported in Telangana.

Meanwhile, 317 people tested positive for Covid-19, 232 people recovered from the infection and 2 died due to Covid-19 in the state today.

The positive rate of Covid-19 in Telangana stood at 0.59% in the state today.
