2023 elections: New voter registration forms to be out by 1 August

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana, Vikas Raj, said forms for registration of electors have been modified to make voter enrollment easy and flexible.

Hyderabad: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana, Vikas Raj, said forms for registration of electors have been modified to make voter enrollment easy and flexible. He said the new forms would come into effect from 1 August 2022.

During a video conference with district collectors on Tuesday, Mr. Raj talked about the various changes in forms 6,7, 8, and 8 A.

Removal of PSEs

Stating that DEOs have completed 100% verification of photo similar entries (PSEs), the CEO said they have removed 10,25,987 PSEs in 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. There are a whopping 22.04 lakh PSEs in the electoral rolls across 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. PSEs are multiple cards with a picture of the same voter.

Aadhar and voting

With regard to linking Aadhaar with voter identification cards, the CEO said sharing Aadhar details is optional. He further instructed the district collectors to exercise caution and ensure that the Aadhar details of the electors are not disclosed and necessary precautions are taken.

Mr. Raj said the following modifications have been made to the voter registration forms:

FORM 6A: There is no change in existing Form 6-A for "inclusion of name in electoral roll by an overseas Indian elector" and it shall continue to remain in force/existence.

FORM 001: Application for issue of replacement EPIC has been discontinued and the provision for the same has been made in the newly modified Form-8.

FORM-7: Objection for proposed inclusion/deletion of name in existing electoral roll has also been slightly modified and a provision for attaching the death certificate has also been made.

FORM-8/8A: The existing Form 8A for "transposition of entry in electoral roll (in case of shifting from one place of residence to another place of residence with the same constituency)" has been discontinued and the existing Form-8 for "Correction to particulars entered in electoral roll" has been substituted with a new Form-8 for shifting of residence, correction of entries in the existing electoral roll, replacement of EPIC, and marking of a person with a disability.
