28 Telangana govt teachers to travel to Finland, Japan and Singapore to study school systems

Hyderabad: In a move to upgrade the quality of state-run schools, the Telangana State government has identified 28 government teachers for an international exposure visit to some of the world’s leading educational hubs.

These educators are set to travel to Finland, Singapore, Vietnam and Japan to study global best practices and bring world-class pedagogical techniques back to Telangana’s classrooms.

Firsthand experience of international education standards

The initiative, titled the “Teachers’ Exposure Visit and Educational Exchange Programme,” is being held by the Department of School Education.

According to official proceedings issued by Dr E Naveen Nicolas, IAS, Director of School Education, the program aims to enhance the professional capacities of local teachers by enabling them to experience firsthand the school systems of countries renowned for their high academic standards.

The selection and delegation

The identified list includes 28 participants, comprising Headmasters (HMs), School Assistants (SAs), and Secondary Grade Teachers (SGTs) selected from various districts across the state.

Tour schedule and countries

The exposure visit is scheduled to take place over five days, from April 20 to 24. During this period, the delegates will visit:

- Finland: Consistently ranked among the best in the world for its holistic approach to student well-being and teacher autonomy.

- Japan and Singapore: Known for their discipline, rigorous STEM education and innovative teaching technologies.

- Vietnam: Recognised for its rapid progress and high performance in global educational assessments.

Next steps for participants

The Education department, in an official note, mentioned that to prepare the teachers for the journey, a virtual orientation programme is scheduled for March 25 at 3 pm.

During this session, the participants will receive instructions regarding visa processing, necessary documentation and other logistical details.
