Hyderabad: Three new cases of Omicron were reported in Telangana on Saturday taking the total number of Omicron cases in the state to 41.
All the three new cases came from random samples taken from passengers arriving from non-risk countries while one was a contact of a person who had earlier tested positive for the new COVID-19 variant.
Out of the 41 who have tested positive for Omicron so far, 26 are from non-risk countries, four from at-risk countries, one is a contact of an Omicron-positive person while ten omicron cases has recovered from the virus.
On 21 December, 333 samples were tested at the Hyderabad airport out of which eight positive for COVID-19. Their samples were sent for genome sequencing.
Overall, 11,245 passengers have been tested at RGIA of which 83 tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 83, 41 tested positive for Omicron, 22 tested negative, while the results of 20 samples are awaited.
