14 students tested positive for Covid-19 on 28 December and 16 students on 29 December in Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Narsingi in Rangareddy district

30 students test Covid-19 positive at Narsingi college

Hyderabad: 30 students tested positive for Covid-19 in Sri Chaitanya Junior College in Narsingi town in Rangareddy district in the last two days, on 28 December and 29 December.

"14 students tested Covid-19 positive today (on 29 December) and 16 students tested positive yesterday (on 28 December)," informed Dr.Srujana, Deputy District Health and Medical Officer (DHMO), Rangareddy.

She further added that some of the asymptomatic students who tested positive were sent back home with their parents in private vehicles. The remaining students who tested positive are reportedly isolated in hostels inside the campus where there are no students residing.

"Most of the students studying here are from Warangal and other outskirts of Telangana. Some of them had gone home for Christmas vacation. From them, the other students caught the infection." said a student of the college who wished not to be identified.

On 28 December, 228 people tested positive, 185 recovered, and 1 died due to Covid-19 in Telangana.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Telangana reported seven more cases of Omicron taking the total tally of Omicron cases in the state to 62. Out of the seven cases, three are from 'at-risk' countries and four from non-risk countries.
