On 7 December, a 70-year-old paddy farmer died of a heart attack in Karimnagar district. Soon afterward, protests rocked the paddy procurement centre at Abadi Jammikunta in Karimnagar.

The deceased was identified as Bitla Iylaiah of Abadi Jammikunta.
