Adopt AAPs zero-tolerance policy on corruption: Forum for Good Governance to KCR

Hyderabad: The Forum for Good Governance (FFG) on Wednesday wrote a letter to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao requesting him to adopt the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) principle of zero tolerance toward corruption.

Citing Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's move to sack the state health minister on Tuesday due to his alleged involvement in a bribe case, Padmanabha Reddy of FFG said, "He was arrested and FIR issued though there was no demand from Opposition parties or media. Action against the minister was taken just on Intelligence reports. It is a daring step to control corruption in high places."

The Punjab Chief Minister sacked health minister Vijay Singala on Tuesday on charges of corruption. A complaint was received from a government officer alleging that the minister had demanded a 1% commission for awarding government tenders.

"In Telangana also, every day there are stories doing the rounds that commission on works is rampant in the government of Telangana and that there is a need to control corruption at higher places," he added.

In the letter, FFG appreciated KCR's intentions to adopt the best practices of the AAP government. "During the recent visit of the Chief Minister to Delhi and Punjab, he visited some innovative schemes like Bast Dawakhanas and the state-of-the-art schools maintained by the Delhi government. He interacted with students and appreciated them. The Chief Minister has all praise for the programmes taken up by the AAP government. He further stated that he will send some teachers from Telangana to study the school education system in Delhi," read the letter.

Padmanabha Reddy said just like how the Chief Minister said he would adopt the good side of AAP governance in Delhi, he also needs to adopt the AAP's zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in Telangana.
