Advocate Santhosh assault case: Telangana HC issues notice to CS, DGP, Borabanda PS SHO, others

A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao issued notices to the Chief Secretary; Principal Secretary, Home Department; DGP; CP Hyderabad, and SHO Borabanda police station. They have been directed to respond to the notices within four weeks.

The media reported on the high-handed behavior of Borabanda Police against Advocate P.Santhosh. He was roughed up by the Borabanda Police on August 16.
SI Sardar Jamal, PCs Srinivas Raj and Nageshwar Rao, and others, raided a house in Banjara Nagar, Borabanda on a complaint. Advocate P. Santosh Advocate is a tenant. Santosh was taken to the police station where he was subjected to physical abuse. During interrogation, police used abusive and filthy language against the advocate
Additional Advocate General admitted that āit was a very unfortunate incidentā.
Chief Justice Alok Aradhe reiterated that advocates are the important people in the justice delivery system and they have to be treated with utmost respect.
It is the second in the recent past. Chief Justice directed the Additional AG to file a feasibility report on the Advocate Protection Act, along with the counter.
The matter was adjourned for four weeks.
