Hyderabad: Advocate Asuri Maringanti Srinivasa Rangacharya, former counsel of the erstwhile Municipality Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH), passed away on 11 February at his residence in Hyderabad. He was 90.

He is survived by advocate Srimathi Sreelekha, Sri Srimannarayanachary, Sri Ramanujachary, (engineers from the United States), and famous eye surgeon Dr. Murali Krishnamachary, ophthalmologist of Sulochana Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, and his brother Vedantachary, former optometrist. Srinivasa Rangachary’s sons and daughter informed that the funeral will be done in Jubilee Hills Mahaprasthanam, Hyderabad at 4 p.m.

As former counsel, Srinivasa Rangacharya prevented land grabbers and saved many valuable lands in Hyderabad, as Special Commissioners like HS Brahma IAS, former Central Election Commission, etc.

Srinivasa Rangacharya was an honest and sincere counsel of MCH and Andhra Bank. He managed Sri Chenna Keshava Swamy temple at Chandrayangatta, Keshavagiri, in Hyderabad as its founder trustee along with his brother Vedantachary.

Madabhushi Sridhar said, “Just within 14 days after ‘Rangakkayya’ (93 years), Asuri Maringanti Srinivasa Rangachary, advocate and devotee, followed my mother. He is (should say was) an efficient lawyer and a pandit on Tiruppavai, Ramanuja and Alwaar-related devotional Adhyatma and a pious person. He used to take Rangakkayya, his brother, me, and all those who could accompany him in his car to listen to Tiruppavai Pravachanam at Keys High School in Secunderabad every Dhanurmasam.”

Sridhar also said, “When practicing law, he used to dictate drafting cases with great speed, which was difficult for others to manage, and I used to learn speed and law also. Because of this, I used to write 25,000 judgements as Central Information Commissioner of RTI in Delhi. As a lawyer, he explained intricate issues of Transfer of Property issues like rule against perpetuity, transfer for benefit of unborn person, restriction repugnant to interest created, especially part-performance, etc.

“We will miss him forever. I pay my tributes to this great person,” said Madabhushi Sridhar.
