Hyderabad: The Telangana government has mandated that all educational institutes use the Aadhar-enabled biometric attendance system (AEBAS) for students and teachers.
In a memo issued by the state government on 12 October, the commissioner of collegiate education, Telangana, was authorised to take the necessary actions to implement AEBAS for students and staff in all higher educational institutions across the state to calculate attendance as required for automating the students to higher classes. AEBAS is also used for the student's e-pass scholarship/fee reimbursement, among other things.
Similarly, the memo stated that biometric attendance should be used to calculate the duty period of the staff, both teaching and non-teaching, as well as their leaves, and that instructions should be issued accordingly.
