Aparesh Kumar Singh sworn in as Telangana High Court Chief Justice
Hyderabad: Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court on Saturday. The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.
Oath administered by Governor
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Singh. The event was attended by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy along with his Cabinet colleagues.
Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka were also present.
Succeeded Justice Sujoy Paul
Justice Singh succeeds Justice Sujoy Paul, who has been transferred to the Calcutta High Court. Prior to his Telangana posting, Justice Singh served as the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court from April 17, 2023. He has also held charge as Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Legal career and family background
Justice Singh was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court in January 2012 and became a permanent judge in January 2014.
He comes from a family of legal luminaries, with his great-grandfather B.P. Sinha has served as the Chief Justice of India. Singh also holds a B.A. Honours and LL.B. degree from the University of Delhi.
