Hyderabad: Telangana health minister Harish Rao on Tuesday said ASHA workers, Auxiliary Nurse & Midwife (ANMs), staff nurses, and medical professionals will be rewarded with Rs. 3,000 for normal deliveries at government hospitals.

"The number of deliveries in government hospitals should increase. Normal deliveries should take place more often," the minister said during a meeting in Siddipet.

Meanwhile, local representatives conducted reviews with ANMs on village-wise deliveries in government and private hospitals, including normal and cesarean sections.

The minister said government hospitals had all the facilities and were providing all kinds of treatments. He further directed the health department staff to go door-to-door and distribute non-communicable disease (NCD) kits in villages. He asked ANMs to inquire into the diagnosis of every health condition such as BP and diabetes.

The minister said a medical camp would be conducted in the Akkannapet zone and as part of the camp, cataract eye operations would be done free of cost. Knee cap operations that cost Rs. 3 lakhs will be performed free of cost, he added.

The minister also said that notifications were being issued for 1,300 medical jobs.
