Ayushmann Bharath Digital Mission services now in AIIMS Bibinagar

Hyderabad: The Union minister of health and family welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on Sunday inaugurated the Ayushmann Bharath Digital Mission (ABDM) services at AIIMS Bibinagar on Sunday. He also witnessed the practical demonstration of real-time video specialist consultation.

ABDM is the initiative started by the Central government to digitalize health records across the country and includes QR code-based patient registration, Health Management Information System (HMIS)—a software to manage data in any hospital, including many digital services like patient registration, patient queue management, lab information system, doctors desk, OP billing, etc.

Dr. Madaviya said with the help of Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card, patients can access their medical records anywhere, anytime all over India.

Charak Sapath instead of Hypocrites oath

The Union minister delivered the Maharshi Charak Sapath to the new batch of MBBS students (2022-23). Congratulating the first-year students, the minister said they should feel proud to be studying in a reputed institution like AIIMS.

Dr. Mandaviya said, "AIIMS is a prestigious institute. Its reputation is such that people think that if there is no treatment available at AIIMS, then there is no treatment available elsewhere in the whole country."

The minister called upon every medical student to inculcate the two important traits for success—commitment and dedication. Dr. Mandaviya reiterated that health is never to be treated as a business; it is a service to humanity.

Recalling how India supplied Hydoxychloroquinone and Azithromycin to the rest of the world at pre-Covid prices without taking advantage of the crisis, he said that was in accordance with the principle of 'Vasudaiva Kutumbakam'. He exhorted the teachers at AIIMS to ensure that the young doctors accord the highest priority to serve the poorest of the poor.

Meanwhile, Dr. Yadagiri Rao, IMA Telangana Secretary, who had objected to it earlier reiterated that it was a deliberate attempt to bring religion into this. "Let both oaths be taken. The ones who take the Charak Sampath tend to believe that the other one is wrong. That should not happen," Dr. Rao said.

Herbal plantation drive

Under Swatch Bharath Abhiyaan, a herbal plantation drive was taken up in the presence of the Union health minister where 101 herbal plants were planted by the newly-joined first-year MBBS students of AIIMS Bibinagar. The minister was presented with the progress report of AIIMS Bibinagar by executive director Dr. Bhatia. Later, Dr. Mandaviya visited the project site of construction to review the work in progress.

Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, executive director Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Bhatia, dean (academics) Prof. (Dr.) Rahul Narang, and medical superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Neeraj Agarwal participated in the event.
