Bandi Sanjay Padayatra: Telangana HC adjourns petition to 25th August

A Petition in High Court to allow Bandi Sanjay's Padayatra has been adjourned till tomorrow by High Court.

A Lunch Motion petition was filed to permit the BJP TS president Bandi Sanjay's 'Praja Sangrama Padayatra', which has been rejected by the police.

The petition was filed by G. Bhaskar Reddy alleging that the police are not giving permission to continue the Padayatra in Jangaon and Warangal Districts, despite given representations.

Counsel for the Petitioner N Ramachandra Rao argued that on 23-07-2022 a representation had been given to the DGP to permit Praja Sangrama Padayatra.

Ramachandra Rao further alleged that earlier in two 'Padayatras' no written permission was given. The police have given protection for a thousand Padayatra for about 100 days.

The petitioner's counsel further informed the Court that on the earlier two padayatras the police have given full protection. There was no untoward incident or law and order problem.

Justice K. Lalitha pointed out that there is no understanding between the petitioner and the police and no coordination.

The power vested with the police is to regulate law and order and the court cannot assume or presume a matter.

Justice Kanneganti Lalitha pointed out that on earlier occasions how did the police permit Padayatra?

The special general prosecutor Srikanth Reddy informed the court that as per faith in the democratic system.

Justice Lalitha said that even in the democratic system, the police are supposed to do the obligatory government services. The public prosecutor stated that police bandobast was provided without permission. Now, there is a law and order problem and hence permission is required for continuing the padayatra.

The court asked the police to produce all the documents pertaining to the case tomorrow and adjourned the hearing.
