A writ petition has been filed in the Telangana High Court to cancel the membership of BJP MLA Raja Singh. The petition was filed by Hazrath Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Welfare Association, represented by its Secretary Mohammed Yousuf Umer Ansari, resident of Shivaji Nagar, Govandi, Mumbai.

The petitioner stated that the inaction of the Telangana Chief Secretary, Speaker, Election Commission of India, Delhi, CEO, Telangana is illegal and violative of the constitution of India.

The petitioner further alleged that MLA T. Raja Singh has been making inflammatory and controversial statements against the prophet and the holy Quran, which are sacred to the Muslim community.

The video was released by the MLA Raja Singh, who always delivers provocative and inflammatory speeches with an intention to drive a wedge between the communities leading to public disorder, chaos, and panic among innocent citizens.

Petitioner prayed to the court to protect and safeguard the interest of the people. The petitioner said Raja Singh is inclined to hinder social equality and also bring enmity between the religious communities and therefore it is necessary to dismiss him as MLA.

The plea may come up before the bench within a day or two for hearing.

Bandh at Raja Singh constituency

Sri Ram Yuva Sena has given a call for bandh on September 3rd in Goshamahal Constituency. They allege that the arrest is illegal.

On 22 August, Raja Singh posted a controversial video on Shree Ram Telangana, a YouTube channel, where he made derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad. The Hyderabad police said he had done this with an intention to provoke all sections of people and thereby cause a breach of peace and public tranquility. The BJP disciplinary committee issued a show cause notice and suspended him from the party. Raja Singh was arrested by the police on August 23rd but was given bail due to a technical glitch of Hyderabad police. He was then arrested on August 25th for provocative speeches and intimidation in old cases. A total of 43 cases are listed against him in different police stations in Hyderabad which include rioting, house-breaking, and promoting enmity between different groups of people on the basis of religion, caste, race, place of birth, residence and others.
