Hyderabad: Union minister for culture, tourism, and development of the northeastern region (DoNER) G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday announced that Rs. 32,755 crore has been approved for road development works in Telangana.
Saying that currently, road development works at a cost of Rs. 15,113 crore are underway in the state, he said black spots have been identified in 378 areas throughout the state and Rs. 850 crore sanctioned to reduce accidents in these black spots.
Giving details of the national highways being constructed by the Central government in Telangana, Mr. Kishan Reddy said all districts in the state (except Peddapalli) are connected with National Highways. The Centre has so far spent Rs. 31,624 crore on constructing roads in the state, he added.
"The NH44 which connects Hyderabad and Bengaluru will be developed as a 'Super Information Highway'. It will be designed in such a way that hospitals, petrol bunks, hotels, traffic jams and much more can be tracked through real-time digital tracking methods," Mr. Kishan Reddy said. The total length of this highway will be 251 km, he added.
The minister said that as part of the PM #GatiShakti action plan, corridors will be set up in Telangana at a cost of Rs. 22,706 crore. Solapur-Kurnool-Chennai Economic Corridor, Hyderabad-Visakha Inter Corridor, Hyderabad-Raipur Economic Corridor, and Indore-Hyderabad Inter Corridor are the corridors that will be set up.
