COVID-19: TS reports 3,603 new cases; TPR at 3.8%

By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 Jan 2022 3:04 PM GMTHyderabad: Telangana reported 3,603 new COVID-19 cases on January 23, Sunday. This is 17.9% less than the number of cases recorded on 22 January i.e; 4,393 cases.
Testing in the state was also less on Sunday-93,397 samples. One person died due to COVID-19 in the state in the last 24 hours.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 32,094. Telangana has so far reported a total of 7,34,815 cases.

A total of 2,707 people recovered from the virus statewide in a span of 24 hours taking the overall recoveries so far to 6,98,649 constituting a recovery rate of 95.08%.
The results of 7,133 swab samples are awaited. The test positivity rate as of now stands at 3.8%. A total of 3,13,78,819 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic.
A total of 2,10,952 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were administered on Saturday. Around 36,415 were the first dose, 1,69,866 were the second dose, and 4,671 were the booster dose.
The fall in the number of daily cases comes at a time when discussions are happening around why Telangana still reports a four-digit number of cases every day when all its neighbours (the other south Indian states including Andhra Pradesh) are reporting cases in five digits.
