Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President and Minister K T. Rama Rao has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recruitment notification be revised to include Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and other languages.

The current notification only allows the computer-based test to be conducted in English and Hindi, which disadvantages students who are not proficient in these languages.

In his letter, KTR said that the competitive exams being held only in English and Hindi are a serious disadvantage to students who did not study in English medium or are not from Hindi-speaking states.

He reminded that National Recruitment Agency has decided to facilitate a Common Eligibility Test (NRA-CET) to replace multiple examinations and conduct these in 12 Indian languages. "However, itā€™s not being implemented properly, including in the (CRPF) recruitment notification," said KTR.

"Conducting competitive exams only in Hindi goes against the spirit of the constitution as there are several official languages in India. The CRPF notification denies people the right to equal opportunities - guaranteed by the constitution," he said.

KTR also recalled the letter written by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to the central government on November 18, 2020, urging them to hold all competitive exams for central government jobs in regional languages.

He appealed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to revise the CRPF notification so that crores of youth studying in regional languages get equal opportunities without any discrimination or inequality.

According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, around 1.30 lakh posts of constables in the CRPF, with the Computer Based Test scheduled to be conducted in English and Hindi only.
