Daily COVID-19 cases cross 4K in TS; TPR at 3.4%

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 4,207 COVID-19 cases and two deaths on 20 January. This is an 18% increase in the number of cases compared to 19 January. On Wednesday, the state had reported 3,557 cases.

The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 26,633 while the total number of cases reported so far stands at 7,22,403.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases (1,645) in the last 24 hours followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (380), Rangareddy (336), Hanumakonda (154), and Sangareddy (107). The other districts in the state saw cases in double digits.

A total of 1,825 people recovered from coronavirus statewide in a span of 24 hours taking the overall recoveries so far to 6,91,703 constituting a recovery rate of 95.75%.

Meanwhile, 1,20,215 samples were tested during the past 24 hours. The results of 10,136 swab samples are awaited. The test positivity rate as of now stands at 3.4%. A total of 3,10,48,955 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic.
