Doubling of 10.45 km Mahabubnagar-Divitipalli railway line completed

Hyderabad: Doubling of 10.45-kilometer Mahabubnagar-Divitipalli railway line has been completed. The project, which is a part of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling and electrification project will enhance the rail connectivity between Hyderabad and other major cities located in southern regions of the state such as Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Bengaluru, Tirupati, etc.

The project, executed by the Railway PSU, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) was sanctioned for a distance of 85 km in 2015-16 at an estimated cost of Rs. 774 crores.

The section between Secunderabad-Umdanagar for a distance of 28 km has already been completed as part of MMTS Phase I & II. South Central Railway (SCR) said doubling & electrification works in the balance section from Umdanagar-Mahabubnagar has been progressing swiftly with the completion of different sections in recent years.

Now, with the completion of the 10.45 km stretch between Mahabubnagar and Divitipalli, except for the small portion of 15 Kms between Divitipalli and Gollapalli, the major portion of the project is completed, SCR said.

SCR also said that all the three stations- Divitipalli, Yenugonda, and Mahabubnagar in the newly doubled section have been provided with upgraded passenger amenities and advanced signaling equipment.
