Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday said Dr. MCR HRD Institute will enter into a strategic agreement with the world-renowned Harvard University.
Under this partnership, global experts in public administration will visit Telangana to provide high-level training to state officials, ensuring the bureaucracy is equipped with international best practices.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing newly recruited Group-1 and Group-2 officers following the completion of their training. In an emotional address, the CM urged the 582 Group-1 and 1,775 Group-2 recruits to maintain their empathy. "Until recently, you were students and unemployed. Now, you are the officers ready to serve four crore people," the CM said. "Do not forget your roots. You must be good human beings first. You are the eyes and ears of this government."
He specifically invoked the legacy of S. R. Sankaran, the legendary "People’s Officer," as a benchmark for the recruits to follow in delivering welfare programs to the grassroots.
Overcoming Recruitment Hurdles
Taking a sharp swipe at the previous BRS administration, CM Reddy criticized the lack of Group-1 recruitments over the last decade. He highlighted that his government reformed the TGPSC by appointing reputed members and successfully conducted exams without a single paper leak.
Despite legal challenges from the opposition following the results, the CM noted that the government remained steadfast in filling the posts to fulfill the aspirations of the state’s youth.
Cultural Identity and Social Justice
Invoking the spirit of Telangana’s historical icons, the CM reminded the officers that the state’s history is defined by a refusal to accept domination.
Historical Icons: He cited the rebellions of Ranji Gondu, Komaram Bheem, and Sammakka Saralamma as fights for social justice and equality rather than mere territory.
Political Heritage: He noted the historic victory of Ravi Narayana Reddy in India’s first parliamentary elections as a testament to the region’s democratic strength.
Landmark Policy
In a significant policy shift, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s intent to introduce a new law in the State Assembly regarding the welfare of the elderly.
The proposed legislation would authorize a 10% to 15% salary deduction for government employees who fail to care for their aging parents. The CM emphasized that public servants must lead by example in upholding social and familial responsibilities.
